the moon brushes dirt from
the back of the overturned canoe
turns silver to gold
burnishes black waters
shimmers darkness and
invades the privacy of night leaves
i merge with the light
until my skin turns gold
illuminates dark waters
revealing twisted limbs of resting trees
at the bottom of the lake
i descend
tasting water
creating shadow leaves
where they are no longer
